I had a rather unique upbringing, spending most of my childhood in my mom’s dance studio or on the construction site working with my dad. Growing up in a small town, there wasn’t much else to do. I played school sports and quickly found I was a very competitive athlete. I excelled in volleyball and tennis and went on to play volleyball for Trinidad State Junior College.
I decided to continue my education at New Mexico Tech. I joined the women’s soccer team and was introduced to weight lifting. Gyms always seemed intimidating to me, but quickly found I enjoyed the challenge of getting stronger and improving my physique. After a few years of training, I was encouraged to sign up for a bodybuilding show in July of 2014. I took 1st in novice, 1st in my open class and ultimately won the overall figure class receiving my IFPA pro card. I then participated in the IFPA Pro Universe Show in Hermosa Beach, CA in August of 2015 and took 3rd place.
I look forward to competing on the Pro stage again in the near future. However, I make it a point to let bodybuilding be a part of my life, not become my life. I thoroughly enjoy other sports and activities during my off season including various snow skiing events and cyclocross competitions. I may not always be on the podium, but I enjoy every minute of the physical challenge!
