A former dancer, she was trained under the tutelage of Bernice Hammond at the Northeast Academy of Dance, Lynn Welters Newman and Sandra Fortune Greene at Jones Haywood School of Ballet--both located in Washington DC. She was an original member of the Spirit Wings Dance Company under the direction of Rev. Sandy Mitchell. Her love of dancing segued into a part time fitness career when she attended a Zumbathon. Lisa received licensing to teach Zumba and Aqua Zumba. From there, she became a Certified Group Exercise Instructor, AFAA; Kickboxing Instructor, AFAA; STRIDE Instructor, AAAI/ISMA; INSANITY Instructor, Beachbody Fitness; Health and Wellness Life Coach, AAAI/ISMA; Sports Nutrition Consultant, AAAI/ISMA; Weight Management Consultant, AAAI/ISMA and a Certified Personal Trainer, ISSA. Lisa got into competing in the sport of bodybuilding when a trainer at her gym mentioned that she had a good foundation and should try it. Once Lisa stepped onstage in her first Figure competition, she was hooked!
Now retired from police work, Lisa and her husband own and operate two martial arts schools in Virginia. Lisa still trains to compete in shows...but now in the class of Physique. And of course, she is still personally training women who are looking to be the best them that they can possibly be.
Lisa's motto? The only failure is in not trying. You are stronger than you realize...so get up, get out and MOVE!
