Melanie began her journey into competitive bodybuilding at the age of 40. She was immediately hooked by the transformational changes she accomplished, conscientiously molding a physique worthy of the stage. At her first competition in the Figure division (INBF), she won the Overall Gold and from that point there was no looking back!
Melanie has since competed with other natural organizations and has done equally well – winning the Overall Figure at the INBA Natural Olympia in 2011 (achieving Pro status) and the Gold at the PNBA Natural Universe in 2012.
In October 2015, after a two-year break from competing, Melanie competed in the Women’s Physique division (NFF) and won the Open Overall – achieving Pro status in Women’s Physique at the age of 46.
Setting out to accomplish goals is how she maintains her focus and drive to continuously improve. One reason Melanie continues to hit the weights every day is to show the world that a strong woman is an empowered woman. Amazing changes can occur to the physique through consistent training and smart nutrition, not through the use of drugs.
Of significant motivation to Melanie is her desire to be a positive, inspirational role model to other women – teaching them that once they find their muscles, they will also find their confidence.
Extensively trained in physiology and anatomy, certified in heart rate assessment, monitoring and program design, as well as in marathon/triathlon coaching programming/implementation, and highly experienced in weight loss/body transformation with hundreds of clients, Melanie is the Founder & Lead Coach at Bodyworx Fit, living the dream as a personal trainer & nutrition coach (in person and online), author, and motivational speaker. She and her husband Grover Daly are also Owners of Downsize Fitness Houston (TX), a comprehensive fitness facility promoting lifestyle fitness and healthy living.
