My name is Ricky Howell. I began weight training at the age of 38 years old in March 2006. I was skinny and weighed only 130-135 lbs. During this period of my life I was going through a divorce, became a single dad, and after a routine physical exam, realized that I needed to take better care of body.
After two years of consistent weight training and learning about nutrition and supplementation, I reached my goal weight of 185 lbs. I was fortunate to have my transformation story featured on Bodybuilding.com as the Over 40 Transformation of Month (www.bodybuilding.com/fun/james_howell.htm). In 2009, I was honored to be featured in a national advertising campaign for Bodybuilding.com. The promotional ad was published in several bodybuilding and fitness magazines such as MuscleMag, Flex, and Men's Health. In 2011, my transformation story was included in Kris Gethin's book, Body by Design. In 2012, I was selected as a Top 40 winner in the Best Self Atlanta Magazine's Over 40 and Fabulous contest.
As a positive progression in my fitness journey, I began competing in natural bodybuilding competitions. I won my WNBF Masters Pro Card at the 2011 INBF Southern Natural and was awarded a DFAC Masters Pro Card at the 2012 DFAC Florida State Natural Championships.
Besides being a natural pro bodybuilder, my wife Erica and I promote the DFAC Georgia Natural Championships and Win-Win Nutrition & Supplements Pro Classic. www.ganaturalchamp.com
My future plans include becoming a certified personal trainer and helping others achieve their fitness goals. I ultimately want to inspire others to believe that change is possible.
